An amazing journey has started from 13th December in Ahmedabad with the help of AIESEC and Invincible NGO which works to develop leadership in youth and helps to broaden cross culture environment to experience new challenges. After spending 8 blissful days in Ahmedabad we sat our bag pack to explore Queen Of Mountains “Dalhouise” in Himachal Pradesh. Trekking up to Dainkund is the main feature of exploring Dalhouise.

The Journey of 4 of us in India through Invincible.

At 20th December we picked the train for Pathankot from Ahemdabad Railway Station and after 30 hours journey on train we reached Pathankot Station then after 4 hours journey by car; we were in Dalhouise. The volunteers of Invincible NGO welcomed us and briefed us the schedule of further days. The next day we visited many places in Dalhouise and discovered the beauty of Dalhouise.

Our visiting started with the famous place of Dalhouise like Gandhi Chowk, Subhash Chowk. There are many beautiful shops where we found many local products to buy. There are many food stores where different types of sweets like gulab jamun, kala jam, carrot’s halwa are sold. Again one can find different types of vegetarian food with non vegetarian foods also. Popular dress code of Himachal Pradesh Cholis and Ghagra Choli are also available there. One can find variation of warm cloth in those stores. Again most of the hotels of Dalhouise are also near to the Gandhi Chowk. Local people also bring their necessary staffs from Gandi Chowk market. People who live in high hills of mountain in Dalhouise also buy their daily items from Gandhi Chowk market.

Gandhi Chowk

In Gandhi Chowk different cuisines are found in different local shops in addition with different state foods of India.

In 2 km walking distance there is another popular market known as Subhash Chowk. The speciality of this market is that there are local shops of Kullu Topi and Pahari Shawl and several food items. Different outgoing cloths are available in this market. There is a monument of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the middle of the chowk.

The normal temperature of Dalhouise in December is 11 degree celsius but at night it goes down to -3 degree celsius. So, one can find various types of warm clothes in Shubash Chawk market including wool socks, hand gloves, jackets, coats etc. In Shubash Chawk my friends also clicked picture with rabbits and pigeons. A man was carrying 2 rabbits and 1 pigeon with himself in a basket. By giving 20 rupees my friends individually took lots of photos with the rabbit. It was so adorable, we wanted to hold those for so long but we had to go to other places too. There are lots of other places in between where we took photos and threw snowballs to each other. Another satisfying thing was that if you are hungry and lover of Maggie then you can go any restaurants and order Maggie. It’s too much available here and it’s tasty too. There are many churches including St. Patrick’s Church, St. Francis Church, St. John’s Church. These churches are more than 150 years old and still they are same relam of beauty as like before.

Churches in Dalhouise

After having a great lunch in the evening we went to visit Rock Garden and Chamera lake to explore more about Dalhouise. We hired a car to visit these 2 places and we started near about 3pm. First we went to Rock Garden which is about 18 km away from our Dalhouise club. There are heavy big rocks and waterfall in that garden. The nature looks beautiful having the rocks and small bridge to cross the small waterfall in the garden.

You can see lots of big mountains over there in the Rock Garden. Then from Rock Garden about 17 km away there is Chamera Lake. It is dam actually. The electricity is generated by using the flow of water in the dam. These place is quite restricted and there is higher security which is enforced in this dam side. People come here mainly for boating. There are many large and small boats which are given in rent for half an hours in renting. They also provide life jackets to the passengers. The most beautiful thing is that the lake is in between mountains. One can feel the nature more closely here than any other place.

There are also lots of shops for foods where you can find different types of evening foods and small stalls for Pahari dresses.

An wonderful day was past in Dalhouise with the help of Invincible. There are lots of other beauty in Dalhouise like trekking, shopping etc.
